A Michigan teenager is using her creative and artistic talents to raise money for an animal shelter Amazing Grace Animal Rescue.

17-year-old Courteney Hutter has already raised about $200 for the no-kill animal shelter by painting watercolors of animals. She said she has already sold about a dozen watercolors so far at $18 per painting.

She visited the animal rescue on Valentine’s Day to donate the money she has raised to date and to share some love with the dogs and cats at the shelter.

Hutter was inspired by her grandmother, who thought this would be a good way for her granddaughter to combine her love for art and for animals. Hutter already volunteered regularly at the shelter, but now she receives commissions from community members, from the public through Facebook and she also plans to have a silent auction of her work in March.

Amazing Grace Animal Shelter, like many animal shelters, is completely run by donations. Funds given go to purchase dog and cat food, cat litter, paper towels and other items. Hutter found a creative way to support the many animals in the community who need care and love.
