After being involved in a car accident, a frightened deer was standing in shock in the middle of the road for nearly 25 minutes. When Deputy Ryan Swartz arrived, he had to make a decision on how to get the deer off the roadway before another accident occurred. Instead of opting to euthanize the deer, which is what would typically happen in these situations, Deputy Swartz physically picked up the deer and moved it to the side of the road, where the deer snapped back from being dazed, and trotted off in the nearby field.

This is an incredible moment – many other officers would not have gone out of their way to rescue this animal. I’m so happy this deer, and everyone else involved, is okay!
