Jay Leno, who experienced multiple unfortunate accidents within a few months, made a comeback with a “brand new face” after a gasoline explosion and a motorcycle accident. During his appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, he talked about the severe injuries he suffered in these accidents.

Leno humorously remarked, “I am the new face of comedy for the second time in my career, but this time it’s a brand-new ear.” He had previously become a comedic sensation in the 1980s.

In November, the 72-year-old former Tonight Show host was involved in a dreadful car fire while working on one of his classic cars, resulting in third-degree burns on his chest, face, and hands.

Leno explained that a fuel leak had caused the explosion, and he was caught in the fire. However, he credits his friend Dave Killackey for his quick response in rescuing him.

He explained, “I told Dave that I was on fire, and he promptly pulled me out and put out the fire by smothering it with his body.”

Leno spent 10 days in the hospital where he underwent reconstructive surgery as well as another procedure.

His doctor said while he sustained “significant injuries,” the comedian managed to handle the recovery process “very well.”

However less than two months later, once again Leno found himself in need of medical attention when he was involved in a freak motorcycle accident.

“So I turned down a side street and cut through a parking lot, and unbeknownst to me, some guy had a wire strung across the parking lot but with no flag hanging from it,” he told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “So, you know, I didn’t see it until it was too late. It just clothesline me and, boom, knocked me off the bike.”

“The bike kept going, and you know how that works out.”

He suffered a broken collarbone, two broken ribs, and two cracked kneecaps.

Jay Leno’s “brand new face” was the subject of a joke during his appearance on Clarkson’s talk show. Three nurses who had treated Leno were surprised with a vacation to the Bahamas during the show.
