A Canadian Navy ship is operating with limited power after a fire on board off the coast of Hawaii.

The HMCS Protecteur was returning from operational duties when the fire broke out in the engine room around 10:20 a.m. PST, the Royal Canadian Navy said in a press release. Several crew members were injured fighting the fire and are being treated on board.

The extent of the damage and number of injured sailors haven’t been released.

The ship is expected to travel to Pearl Harbour, currently 630 km away.

There are 279 crew and 17 family members currently on board, as well as two civilian contractors. The Protecteur was returning from duty in the mid-Pacific Ocean.

A U.S. navy ship has been deployed if assistance is needed.
