The once energetic 18-year-old, who loved competitive swimming, now faced the biggest competition of his life. While setting up a GoFundMe account to raise money for Chase’s cancer treatment, Chase’s father came up with the most beneficial idea of all.

He and Chase’s mother, Kelly Smith, saw their son’s love for Sadie and wanted him to know that they fully support the young couple in their relationship.

Chase described a conversation he had with his father about the possibility of marrying Sadie and said his father told him:

“I can see from your demeanor that one day you will marry Sadie. I want you to know that if you think about it now, your mother and I are behind you 110 percent.”

With his parents’ blessing, Chase sets out to do what he’s dreamed of doing since he first met Sadie. Surrounded by Sadie and two pairs of parents, Chase explained to them why he wanted to move forward with the marriage.

“I told them how much Sadie had changed my life and how much I loved her, how special it was to me and the simple fact that no one can be as open about my personal life and my journey with cancer as I can. I can do her,” Chase told Indy Star when he asked who Sadie would marry.

With the blessings of both parents, Chase and Sadie began planning their humble wedding.

Due to the current pandemic, they knew family and other friends couldn’t attend but wanted to share their special day with them.

That’s why Sadie’s father, Jeff Mills, shared a 15-minute video on his YouTube page featuring moments from the beautiful party that took place at Sadie’s home in Indianapolis, Indiana.

On April 4, 2021, Chase ran (or maybe swam?!) into Heavenly Father’s arms!
He has entered his eternal home in heaven and is now fully healed and free from pain or suffering.

All donations left over after paying medical bills and funeral expenses are donated to the many charities close to Chase’s heart. His family has been updated on the GoFundMe page
