Who can blame a mother of two young children for wanting to look their best for a special occasion?
That was all Gemma Kohli wanted to achieve for her marriage. She has had a spray tan. Her child happened to do the same.
“I bought a yellow outfit for an Indian wedding on August 2,” Wakefield’s mother from the UK told ABC News via email. “Since I make pancakes like the friendly ghost Casper, I talked to my friend who is a beauty therapist about getting a spray tan. I don’t normally tan. The last time I had a wedding was about two years ago, but yellow isn’t the most forgiving color on fair skin, so I didn’t think about it.
Her husband looked after their two young sons, 2 and 7, while he sprayed and dried them. Then she went home to breastfeed her baby Cooper as she always did.
“I put my cute little boy, who was drunk with milk, in his crib after he finished feeding him, only to see the five o’clock shadow. ‘Oh my gosh, what have I done?’ was my first thought .”
I had completely forgotten about the color.
Fortunately, a few baby wipes removed most of the paint from Cooper’s face, but the photo Cole took before washing immediately went viral. “I saw the funny side of things and wanted to show my panties to my Facebook friends,” Cooley added.
She had such a positive response that she decided to share it on the Unmumsy Mums Facebook page, where it gained 100,000 likes in just one day.
“Other moms could see the weird side of fatherhood and realize they weren’t the only ones making mistakes,” Coley added.
While the majority of the feedback was encouraging, there was also some negative feedback. “People have accused me of hurting my child by deliberately giving him the wrong color, claiming that I was selfish for even having one tan. I can assure you that is not the truth. I love my children and would never intentionally hurt them, they are my whole world.”
Cooley is glad she finally shared her parenting mistake. “All I can say is that being a mother is damn damn damn good sometimes,” she said. “If I’m not experiencing nausea and bowel movements, I try not to put milk in the cupboard or cereal in the fridge.” “I’m not sure anyone can claim to be the perfect parent. I was brave enough to accept that we all have glitches, but in the end we all do our best to bring great people into the world.”
