People play sports for any number of different reasons but many people get involved in sports in high school in order to do something they love. One sport that often doesn’t get the attention it deserves is wrestling, and this can be a skill you can use in life.

Canaan Bower lives in New Mexico and is a high school student. A few years ago, when he was still in school, he was a member of the wrestling team and he loved competing in that sport.

Little did he know that he would be able to use that skill to save the lives of some small children. It took a lot of courage and his ability as a wrestler, but it came through beautifully.

According to reports, he had pulled his pickup truck into the gas station in New Mexico and heard something going on across the street. He didn’t know what was happening but he felt compelled to go over and see if he could offer assistance.

The gas station across the street is where he saw something that disturbed him greatly. There were several people who were fighting in some way or another so he jumped into the middle of it.

His father, Troy, said that his son had just won the wrestling district championship weeks ago. He came up behind the guy and body slammed him and got him in a choke hold until the police were able to arrive.

It was one thing to break up a fight but he had no idea that he was actually saving lives in the process. A mother had gotten off a Greyhound bus with three children between the ages of nine and one.

A 22-year-old had driven by while she was waiting for an Uber and he stopped to force her to hand over her children. Bystanders jumped in to help, but it wasn’t until the teenager came over that things really went in the right direction.

According to his father, punches were being thrown and you could hear screams of terror so he jumped in his truck and one across the street. When he got there, they had gone inside so he went inside as well and saw blood on the floor.

Heroes come in all shapes and sizes but I think this hero is one that should be remembered in the most beautiful way.
