A 35-year-old infertile woman was shocked to learn about an unfamiliar concept

After an exceedingly uncommon conception in which two of her eggs were fertilized simultaneously, before both dividing, resulting in her conceiving two different sets of identical siblings, a pregnant woman has disclosed she is expecting two sets of identical twins.

Ashley Ness, a 35-year-old hairstylist from Taunton, Massachusetts, was thrilled to learn she was having her first child with her boyfriend Val, a 47-year-old, at a routine visit in February.

When Ashley had an ultrasound two weeks later and learned that she was expecting not one, but four babies, her joy quickly turned to shock.

The fact that the expecting woman, who already has a daughter from a previous relationship, learned that the four kids are actually two sets of identical twins rather than quadruplets astonished even her ultrasound technician.

She wrote “A, B” on the screen when she first started the scan, which caused her to stop and look at her and say, “Wait, I’m having twins?” she recounted to Good Morning America.

According to Ashley, the ultrasound technician was so perplexed by what she saw that she had to leave the room to determine whether such a thing was actually feasible.

She then says, “Oh, I don’t know… I’m going to leave for a moment,” the expectant woman said.

When she got back, the doctor confirmed that Ashley is actually expecting four children, two boys and two girls.

She acknowledged to Boston.com that she initially believed she “was going to faint,” especially after hearing from the physicians that her double-pregnancy was a “one in 70 million” occurrence.

As she continued to scan me, I was sitting there thinking, “OK, how am I going to do this?” How, for instance, am I going to tell my lover that I am expecting four children? She asked, “How am I going to inform my family I’m carrying quadruplets?”

After the shock of the news subsided, Ashley and Val, who each have three children from prior relationships, said they were “very excited” to learn that they were expecting four additional children, especially given Ashley’s protracted battle with infertility.

She admitted on GMA, “I had a very difficult time becoming pregnant with my daughter and I’ve had miscarriages in the past.”

So, “I feel like it’s so fantastic to be able to be blessed with something so large.”

“I became pregnant just before my grandmother also passed away.” I therefore feel as though it was almost like a gift from her, as if she were sending back the losses I suffered. That is exactly how I feel.

Ashley claimed that when she first began telling her family and friends the news, no one did, but as soon as they realized she was speaking the truth, they were nothing but supportive.

My parents were overjoyed. If anyone can do it, you can do it, they said. We won’t worry about you,’ she told Boston.com.

Most people who know me well make that comment, saying things like, “Ash, you got this. It has your name all on it, so you know it’s you.

The hairdresser said she is grateful to have experienced such a rare occurrence, noting that only one in every 70 million woman naturally conceives two sets of identical twins.

According to an earlier ABC News article, it is possible to conceive two sets of twins simultaneously when “two separate eggs are fertilized, resulting in fraternal twins.”

The mother might then become pregnant with two sets of identical twins if those two distinct eggs divide, which is uncommon but feasible.

She remarked, “I can’t wait to see how alike they are.” Will it be difficult for me to tell them apart?

I feel like they’re extremely active inside right now, so I wonder whether they’ll be boisterous little nuggets when they emerge. Are you going to compete with me for my money?”

Despite her joy, Ashley is concerned about the challenges presented by having four infants at once.

I won’t be able to simply carry my kid and go to the grocery store, she added, adding that she now needed four carriers.

There were simply a lot of first thoughts running through my head. I just feel like saying, “I’m going to do it,” at this point.

The names of Chanel, her eight-year-old daughter, who will have four new brothers in October, were left up to Chanel.

Ashley claimed that in keeping with the family custom of choosing names that begin with “Ch,” she chose Chance and Cheston for the boys and Chesley and Chatham for the girls.

According to Ashley, she wants to buy a new van and enlarge their house to suit the change from a family of six to a family of ten.

In an effort to assist with the expansion’s expenditures, she has now launched a GoFundMe page, where she has already amassed nearly $7,000 in donations.

I’m honestly, very grateful for everything everyone does for me, she continued. “It literally thrills my heart to see how kind people have been and what they have done for me.” It’s incredible that someone who doesn’t even know me would want to assist me.

Ashley said she anticipates the babies to arrive sometime in August as doctors have opted to induce labor at about 30-32 weeks due to the significant danger of carrying four infants at once.
