A collection of spectacles forged by mother nature. It’s awe inspiring.
- Bako Sea Stack – Borneo, East Malaysia. Millions of years of wear have created a panorama of cliffs and pillars next to the island beach. This pillar is the most famous one and it stands near the beautiful Pendant beach.
- The Twelve Apostles – Victoria, Australia. Although it’s name, there are only 8 pillars. These rocks are made of chalk stone and stand just shy of the Great Ocean Road beach. In 2005, one of the apostles, whose height is 50m, has collapsed. The caves inside the pillars are home to many penguins.
- Haystack Cliff – Oregon, United States. This pillar stands at an height of 72 meters and has a shape that resembles that of a haystack and hence, it’s name. The rock is a shelter for a variery of birds and is a well known tourist attraction. In low tide, it’s possible to walk across up to the cliff.
- Ko Tapu – Pangana Bay, Thailand. Since starring in the James Bond movie, “The Man with the Golden Gun” (1974), this pillar turned into a popular tourist attraction. The island was also nick named “James Bond’s Island”.
- Risin og Kellingin – Eysturoy, Faroe Islands. These majestic huge pillars are located just off the northern coast of the island of Eysturoy. Their name translates to “The Giant and the Witch”. Geologists claim “Giant” is about to collapse.
- Old Harry Rocks – Dorset Beach, South England. The shape of these two chalk pillars often changes because of constant wear caused by wind and water. In the 18th century, it was still possible to walk all the way to the first pillar.
- Old Man of Hoy – Hoy Island, Scotland. This pillar is 137 (!) meters high. Geologists deem the red chalk pillar will not survive for many more years. This is a highly popular site for rock climbing enthusiasts.
- Lange Anna – Helgoland, Germany. This pillar is the official trademark of the tiny German island. The water created magestic forms in the stones, such as caves, niches and small bow bridges.
- The Sail Rock – Russia. This elongated rock stands on the water line in the black sea in Russia. It’s measurements are extraordinary: 1m width by 20m of length and 25m of height. It’s shape reminds that of a boat sail, hence it’s name.

Kicker Rock – Galapagos. This rock is also known as the “Sleeping Lion Rock”. It’s a highly popular site among enthusiast divers. It’s located in the archipelago of islands of Galapagos. Between the two parts of the rock, there’s a slow current that attracts schools of hammerhead sharks.
