#4 Happy Together

A study published in The Journals of Gerontology claims that older married couples who drink alcohol together reported a less negative relationship quality over time, and the results were “significantly greater among wives.” Aha.
The study found that couples over the age 50 had better marriages if both partners drank or if both partners abstained from drinking. However, if one drank more than the other, couples were more likely to report of an unsatisfied marriage. So, actually, it’s more about shared interests.

#5 Don’t Overdo It

Kira Birditt of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, said: “We’re not suggesting that people should drink more or change the way they drink. We’re not sure why this is happening, but it could be that couples that do more leisure time activities together have better marital quality.” Anyway, moderate drinking is always best.
