It started as a bad joke on Facebook. It ended up being a eerie photo of prophetic nature, referencing the Malaysian flight 370 that disappeared over the Indian Ocean this year.

Dutch passenger Cor Pan was on Malaysia Airline flight MH17 with his wife when it was allegedly shot down by pro-Russian separatists, killing all 295 people on board.

It reads: “If it disappears, this is what it looks like.”

 

According to Buzzfeed, after the tragic events in the airspace over Ukraine, this was one of the ways that family and friends knew he was on the flight, and they began sharing their grief in the comments.

They even set up a Facebook memorial page for Pan, where loved ones have been posting pictures.

Cor Pan’s story is but one of the 295. There are thousands of people who are mourning for the losses of loved ones over this devastating tragedy. We need to remember each of the 295 people that lost their lives and we must not allow this tragedy to go unpunished.
